Vintage Single Cask 2012 Grande Champagne Comandon
This single cask 2012 from the Grande Champagne cognac region was selected for its fine maturity and elegant finish. It breaks preconceived notions about younger being less interesting. Bright and peppy!
The term of ‘single cask’ or ‘single barrel’ is new for the cognac but much more developed in other brown spirits such as whisky or bourbon. Comandon pioneered this new concept starting in 2010. It is a different mind-set and a little rebellious as it goes against the general rule of blending multiple cognacs in order to mass produce the same cognac year after year.
We offer different Casks, different Years, different Terroirs, etc.
Many of these casks are atypical, so different that they would not fit the main stream cognac brands.
Some have a ‘grain type’ of personality, or they are so light in color… so much that one may think they are not a cognac but something else, and that’s OK!
Diversity, curiosity and non-stereotyping is what drives our selection of single casks. Another particularity of this cask is that it is a young vintage, sort of a modern way to think about cognac away from the VS, VSOP and XO stereotypes.
