House Marancheville, located in Mainxe, one of the winegrowing villages in Grande Champagne classified Premier Cru of the Region of Cognac.
The house of Cognac is run by a family of distillers and winemakers by tradition who expanded their activities about 5 years ago by developing a Brand of Cognac.
Thanks to the family's decades of experience through Distillerie Gelinaud, Grégoire and Laurent, the 2 brothers-in-law who founded Marancheville, have a network of Cognac professional partners who helped them build their brand in 2012.
All the eaux-de-vie selected come from Grande Champagne, and are elegant, powerful and aromatically complex.
The "Les Exemplaires" collection features limited editions renewed each year. As its name suggests, L'Exemplaire N°5 is the fifth version of these singular Cognac. It's a Cognac of the XO type, aged for over 35 years in French oak barrels in damp cellars.
It presents itself with a mahogany color with brilliant orange reflections.
The beautifully intense nose is dominated by candied oranges, but there are also hints of white flowers and jasmine; then it evolves towards stone fruits, apricot Sec, vanilla, sweet spices and walnut. The finish is woody, solid parquet, clay and the bewitching aroma of soil after summer rains.
The palate is powerful yet velvety, fruity with very ripe red apples and again apricot and candied citrus.
The whole evolves towards nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla and a hint of coconut and cedar, all enhanced by a fresh, slightly aniseed and mentholated finish. Rancio surfaces in the finish, giving this great Cognac its full length.
This Cognac L'Exemplaire N°5 de Marancheville is a very singular eau-de-vie to which we could only associate a singular accord; let yourself be surprised by an Auvergne blue cheese.
