Legend has it that one day, a knight offered two barrels of his brandy to the monks of the Renorville chapel.
"One April morning in the 17th century, as the monks were taking stock of the chapel, they found a forgotten barrel under the cloister. Their hands grazed the tightly-packed oak staves that protected what was to become a great discovery. When they removed the bung, they realised that a large part of the distilled wine had evaporated: La Part des Anges. They put the glass back into the barrel, and before their astonished eyes, a miracle: the white eau-de-vie had become Cognac.
From that moment on, its amber colour and fruity, floral fragrance won over the hearts and palates of the most discerning gourmets.

Nestling in the heart of the deep valley where the wide Renorville stream winds its way through a thousand detours to join the river Né, this chapel was once a popular place of pilgrimage, dedicated to the Blessed Virgin. It was founded in ancient times by Aimery Taillefer, a knight who had happily returned from the Crusades, and initially belonged to the Templar church in Angles.
