Ancrage

A new brand in the land of Cognac. Based in the Bons Bois appellation, in Boisredon, Charente-Maritime, Nathan Pillet has launched his own brand of wines and spirits, ‘Ancrage’.

Ancrage isn't a name chosen at random. It's a word steeped in meaning, deeply rooted in a place and a family history that has been passed down for over five generations. The Pillet family has always lived, worked and shaped this single estate. This attachment to the local area, heritage and the land lies at the heart of the project.

Originally, the estate was a mixed-farming holding, combining livestock farming, market gardening and viticulture. When the father took over, a decisive turning point was reached : a focus exclusively on viticulture.
The vineyard areas were then expanded, notably with the planting of chardonnay vines, now over twenty years old, which play a central role in current production.

The vineyard is situated on highly varied soils, alternating between sand, silt and clay depending on the plot. The gently undulating terrain also benefits from its proximity to the Gironde estuary, located just fifteen kilometres away as the crow flies.
These characteristics give the wines a unique identity, shaped by the diversity of the soils and the maritime influence.

Having graduated with a BTS in viticulture and Oenology in 2022, Ancrage’s founder, Nathan Pillet, chose to broaden his horizons before taking over the family estate. He then spent a year in California, working at a winery in Paso Robles, between Los Angeles and San Francisco.
