In 1850, Auguste-Christophe and Gustav Meukow, two brothers from Silesia, were sent to France by Tsar Alexander II to supply the Russian Court with Cognac eaux-de-vie.
After several trips, they decided to set up a commercial office in the town of Cognac and founded the House of A.C. MEUKOW & Co on August 1st 1862.
In 1979, Meukow joined the independent family group Compagnie de Guyenne, founded in 1969 by Michel Coste.
Since then, Meukow cognacs have continued to develop and expand their range, supported by the group's commercial structure. The brand is now distributed in more than 80 countries.
