Domaine Laurent Cognac

Let me tell you a family story.

My name is Ludovic Laurent; I'm the fifth generation of a family of winegrowers in Charente.

It was just after the phylloxera crisis, at the very end of the 19th century, that my great-great-grandfather planted the first rows of vines on the estate.

At the time, France was rural, the fields were worked with horses, there were cows, and the work was done without tractors.

The small vineyard of the time experienced significant growth in the 1950s, during which my great-grandmother was able to acquire a few neighbouring plots.

The first tractors arrived, and the vines took on an increasingly important role, with the last cows leaving in 1978.

Despite crises in the wine industry, my grandparents, and then my father, were able to sustain and preserve the family estate, for which it's now my responsibility to write a new chapter.
