In the Queron family, we have been winegrowers from father to son, generation after generation. Jean-François Queron, a member of the sixth generation, took over from his father Jean and his mother Suzy in 1983 and chose to carry on their legacy by expanding the vineyard and continuing the production of Cognac brandy.
Thirty years later, his son, Antoine, driven by the same values and passion, also joined the family business and took over the management of the vineyard and distillery, becoming the seventh generation of the Quéron family to work on the estate.
De Vitis was founded in 1960 by Jean-François Quéron’s mother, Mrs Suzy. Our brand name derives from the Latin ‘Vitis vinifera’, meaning ‘the vine’. It embodies our deep attachment to our vineyard and the winemaking craft, which we are proud to represent as independent winegrowers.
In the very heart of the Fins Bois appellation, our vines grow on soils dating from the Upper Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, consisting mainly of ‘groies’ – a fine, reddish, limestone-rich soil typical of this terroir.
Our eaux-de-vie are characterised by elegant fruity aromas that blend beautifully with the ageing notes imparted by our oak casks.
