Jean Antonin Renault, a 25 year old businessman from Charente, created Renault cognac in the town of Cognac in 1835. He had the reputation of being an innovator who appreciated true quality. Renault was the first cognac manufacturer to ship his cognac in bottles that ensured that the cognac retained its original taste and delicate aromas. Renault was a great traveler and began selling cognac on his travels to Scandinavia, Germany, Eastern Europe, Iceland, the Americas and Asia.
