N°90 Grande Champagne Brut de Fût Cognac Grosperrin
This rare cognac comes from a small estate in Verrières, on one of the most renowned terroirs of the Grande Champagne region. This retired winegrower is renowned for the care, and even love, he gave to his vines.
He considered this lot to be "the best" of his entire production, and for several years he had reserved for us this last barrel from this harvest, stored in a small cellar next to the family kitchen. When you visit this property, you are struck by the humility and authenticity of the place, which contrasts with what you can see today in Grande Champagne.
Powerful nose, typical of Grande Champagne, with a clean and firm finish.
Tannic, it is a cognac that expresses its terroir without pretence: notes of mirabelle plums, wet oak, undergrowth just after the rain.
On the palate, the attack is oily, immediate, without stinging despite its power, which remains contained. An energizing mouth, the notes of candied fruits take over immediately.
The finish is long, slightly blackcurrant, black cherry.
